Forester of the Year: Don Hanley

Don Hanley has been named WSSAF 2019 Forester of The Year!  Don has been a member of Society of American Foresters for 51 years.  He is currently the chairman of WSSAF's Golden Members Appreciation Luncheon and a very active member of the South Puget Sound chapter.  Don is Emeritus Extension Forester and Extension Professor with the Department of Natural Resource Sciences, at Washington State University.  His expertise is in the area of silviculture for non-industrial private forests.  Don is also an expert in windbreak applications for use in the arid regions of the Pacific Northwest.  He is the author of over 90 Extension bulletins and other outreach publications and had made hundreds of presentations to landowner and professional groups.  Don is active in national and regional forestry and other scientific associations.  He was honored as a SAF fellow in 2008.
